For lawyers

How verification works on Aaine.

Every lawyer in the directory is manually verified before any client can book. Here's exactly what we check, in what order, and how long it takes — so you know what to expect from the moment you apply.

Why we verify

The verified mark only means something if every profile earns it.

In Bangladesh, “Advocate” and “Barrister” sit on a lot of business cards. We check the parts a client can't check on their own — and we do it the same way for every lawyer on the platform.

Manual review on every profile.

No self-attested credentials. Our team reviews each application against primary sources — the Bangladesh Bar Council roll, the lawyer's chamber, and the references they provide.

Verification is one-time and free.

You'll never pay to be verified. Once approved, your profile carries the gold Verified mark and stays visible as long as your bar membership is current.

We re-check on every dispute.

If a client raises a dispute against a lawyer, we re-verify their standing with the Bar Council before ruling. Repeat violations result in suspension or removal.

The process

Six checks. Under five business days.

Each step is run by a real person on our verification team — we don't rely on automated bar-number lookups alone, because they miss too many edge cases (district bar registrations, returned-to-practice records, etc.).

  1. 01

    You apply through Aaine.

Tell us your name, bar registration number, practice areas, and the districts you work in. Upload a photo of your bar identification or enrolment certificate, and your government ID.

    ~5 min
  2. 02

    We verify your bar registration.

We confirm your registration number against the Bangladesh Bar Council roll for the High Court and Appellate Divisions, plus your district bar where applicable.

    1–2 days
  3. 03

    We verify your identity.

We match your government ID to your bar record and to the photo on your profile. Identity data is encrypted and never shared with clients.

    1 day
  4. 04

    We contact your practice references.

Two practising lawyers from your chamber or district who can confirm your active practice and standing. We reach out by phone or email — no public posts.

    1–3 days
  5. 05

    We check for disciplinary history.

We check the Bar Council's public complaints register, the Supreme Court Lawyers' Disciplinary Tribunal, and Aaine's own dispute record (if you've been on the platform before).

    Same day
  6. 06

    Your profile goes live.

You get an email confirmation, the gold Verified mark appears on your profile, and clients can start booking consultations with you. Total time: under 5 business days for most applications.

    Live
What to prepare

Have these six things ready before you apply.

The faster we can match your bar registration to your identity and references, the faster you go live. Most lawyers complete this in 10 minutes if everything's in one folder.

We accept clear phone photos for everything — no need for a scanner.

  • Bangladesh Bar Council registration number (HCD / Appellate / District)
  • Government-issued photo ID (NID, passport, or driver's licence)
  • Photo of your bar identification card or enrolment certificate
  • Two practice references — name, role, and contact number
  • A current professional photo (head-and-shoulders, plain background)
  • Your chamber or firm name, if you work in one
The timeline

What happens — and when.

Day 0

You submit your application

Confirmation email lands in your inbox within an hour. If we need anything clearer (an ID photo, a different reference), we ask before the clock starts.

Days 1 – 3

We run the checks

Bar registration, identity match, references. We call your references during business hours and explain why we're calling — no surprises for them or you.

Day 4 – 5

Approved or follow-up

You get either a "you're live" email with a link to your profile, or a specific list of what we need to finish. Most lawyers are approved on day 4.

Frequently asked

Questions lawyers ask us before applying.

Don't see yours? Email [email protected] and we'll get back to you within one business day.

Does Aaine charge for verification?
No. Verification is one-time, free, and reviewed within 5 business days. We make our money from a small platform fee on bookings, never from lawyers paying for visibility.
What happens if my application is rejected?
We email you with the specific reason. Most rejections are fixable — an unclear ID photo, a reference we couldn't reach, or a registration number we couldn't match. You can re-apply once you've addressed it.
How is my identity data protected?
Identity documents are encrypted at rest in our database and never shown to clients. Only the verification team can view them, and they're deleted from active storage 90 days after verification completes.
Do I need a chamber or can I practise independently?
Either works. Independent practitioners are welcome — we just need two practice references who can confirm your active practice. If you work in a chamber or firm, you can list it on your profile.
What if my registration is on hold or under suspension?
We cannot verify a profile while the lawyer's practising certificate is suspended or under review. Once your standing is restored with the Bar Council, you can re-apply.
How often is my verification refreshed?
We re-check active verified lawyers against the Bar Council roll annually and after any client dispute. If your standing changes, your profile is hidden until we can confirm with you.

Ready to join the waiting list?

We're opening verification slots in waves as we expand. Tell us a bit about your practice and we'll reach out as soon as a slot opens in your district.
